Colombo, Dambulla, Kandy, Kithulgala, Pinnawala, Polonnaruwa, Sigiriya

Receive at the Colombo International Airport and proceed to Colombo and check in at Negombo Hotel. Evening leisure in the beach hotel.

After breakfast, proceed to Habarana via Pinnawala. Make a visit to the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, the world’s first orphanage for elephants. You will have chance of entertaining the bottle feeding for baby elephants. Then proceed to Dambulla. Lunch at Dambulla. Visit to the Dambulla Golden Temple, a site declared as the World Heritage site by UNESCO. Dambulla Cave Temple is regarded as the largest cave temple in the Asia where you get more than 150 Buddha statues in five caves. This temple is said to be donated to Buddhist Monks by the King in the 2nd Century BC. The drip edges, drawings on uneven surface, paintings using natural materials, etc. are some of the attractions. Evening leisure at Hotel. Dinner and Overnight at Habarana.

After breakfast, leave to the hotel at around 7:30 am and proceed to Polonnaruwa, which is the second ancient capital of Sri Lanka during 11th and 13th Centuries AD. Declared as the World Heritage Site for its historical importance, it shows the ancient Sri Lankans’ master sculpture work and irrigation systems which are still mysterious to the present world. King’s palaces, Buddhist Shrines, Man made ocean, Rock sculptures, Rock inscriptions, complexes etc. prove the ancient value. Lunch at Polonnaruwa. Afternoon proceed to Sigiriya, a city, palace and garden complex centering a 200 meter high rock is a glowing tribute to the vision of King Kashyapa who created this ‘Palace in the Sky’ in the 5th century AD. On the summit of the Sigiriya rock (meaning the ‘Lion Rock’) that is over 1.5 hectares in extent are the remains of a large palace, the earliest surviving royal palace in Sri Lanka, with several chambers and a bathing pond. The celebrated paintings of 5th century AD, meticulously planned water gardens at the foot of the rock, boulder gardens, the mirror wall, etc are one of the wonders in Asia. Dinner and Overnight at Habarana.

After breakfast, leave the hotel at around 8:00 am towards Kandy. En route visit Aluvihara Temple at Matale where the Buddhist preaching were recorded for the first time in the history of Buddhism in 2 century BC. Then visit a Hindu temple too in Matale. Check in to the hotel in Kandy and have a rest. After lunch visit the Royal Botanical Garden at Peradeniya where there are more than 4300 species of plants and trees including Sri Lankan endemic plants and world’s rare types. It will take around two hours to completely go around the garden as there are 32 sections inside. Evening you will be visiting to see the Kandyan traditional dance and then to the Temple of Tooth Relic the most sacred place in Sri Lanka where the tooth relic of the Buddha is kept. The temple shows the excellent sculpture work of Kandyan Artists whose generations still carry out their master work. Return to Hotel for dinner and overnight in Kandy.

Leave the hotel by 08:00 am after breakfast towards Colombo via Nuwara Eliya. En route visit a Tea factory and see waterfalls in Ramboda. Both sides of the road heading is covered with tea plantations giving a supreme view of the hill country. Go for a city tour in the Nuwara Eliya cold city of Sri Lanka where the temperature is around 16 – 18 C throughout the year. You can see the England legacies in Nuwara Eliya. Lunch at Nuwara Eliya. Then proceed to Colombo via Kithulgala. Again on your way you can see the St. Clair Waterfall and Devon Waterfall. Also visit the location at Kithulgala where the famous award winning film ‘The Bridge on the River Kwai’ was filmed. Kithulgala is also well known for white water rafting and bird watching / nature trails. Lunch at Kithulgala. Colombo is the
commercial capital of Sri Lanka. Evening Colombo city tour including visits to Independence Square, Old Parliament, Hindu Temple, etc. Dinner and Overnight in Colombo.
